Silver Bluff Road Burglary and Fire Investigation

Jackson, SC (18 October 2019, 5:00 pm) – An early morning 911 call from a Silver Bluff Road residence ended with a fire at her home.   Around 5:22 am, deputies responded to 3793 Silver Bluff Road in Jackson for a reported burglary with an assault.  While deputies were responding, dispatchers were notified that the home was on fire.  Beech Island, Silver Bluff and Jackson Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire.  When deputies arrived on scene, they found the victim at a neighbors’ home where she reported that after a family member left the home, she was awaken by a Black male wearing a black mask physically assaulting her.  The victim was able to run out of the back door of her home when the suspect reached for her purse.

After an initial interview with the victim, investigators believe a possible cause of the fire was a turned over candle that occurred during the assault, but remains undetermined cause at this time.  During a search of the area, deputies and investigators detained a possible suspect who was found walking on Foreman Road.  This investigation led to the arrest of the detained suspect, identified as Darrell Miller (50) of Jackson.  Miller was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center where he is charged with Kidnapping and Assault and Battery 1st Degree around noon.  This investigation is on-going and as information becomes available it will be released.  Miller was also booked on a Larceny warrant which is not associated with this investigation.
