Chief Deputy Troy Elwell oversees the daily operation of all divisions at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

He joined ACSO in 1998 as a deputy sheriff. He later was promoted to investigator and headed up juvenile investigations. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Captain and conducted all internal investigations resulting from complaints lodged against ACSO and its employees and was also served as the Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.

Chief Elwell’s extensive training includes crime analysis and geographic profiling. He earned the Clifford A. Moyer marksmanship award from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and in 2001 was named ACSO Investigator of the Year
