JOB TITLE : E911 TRAINING COORDINATOR/MANAGER

Pay Range $57,479.74 to $80,470.94

SPECIFIC STATEMENT OF JOB

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dedicated and experienced E911 Telecommunicator Training Coordinator/Manager to oversee the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs for emergency telecommunicators. This position ensures personnel are well-prepared to provide critical support during emergencies through effective use of communication systems and protocols.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for new and existing telecommunicators, including classroom, simulation, and on-the-job training.
  • Monitor and evaluate telecommunicator performance during training and provide feedback, coaching, and remedial instruction as needed.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and standards, including APCO, NENA, and CJIS training guidelines.
  • Coordinate with shift supervisors and department leadership to assess training needs and track certifications.
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for telecommunicators and training staff.
  • Assist in quality assurance reviews and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist in shift coverage in emergent circumstances

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a telecommunicator in a public safety answering point (PSAP) or similar emergency communications center.
  • Demonstrated experience in training or mentoring staff.
  • Proficient with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, radio consoles, and 9-1-1 call processing equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.

Preferred:

  • Instructor certification (APCO, NENA, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Experience with QA/QI programs.
